SQUELCH'S BIO
Chris "SQUELCH" Carle was born sometime in 1973 in Orange County, California amongst the palm trees, manicured lawns and cinder block walls. As a child he was fascinated with art and music. He was always exposed to art as a young boy thru his grandfather, Don Tobin, cartoonist/Disney animator and his uncle, Pat Tobin, legendary soul surfer and painter. Another driving force in his life was punk rock where he soon found himself as one of the vocalists of Resist & Exist. He then blossomed out of the punk movement like a bellowing cloud of smoke that lingered across the landscape as if our corporate infrastructure collapsed. Later experimenting with performances under the alias Squelch where he crashed numerous shows and imprinted his grotesque demeanor amongst the audience which led him to a BFA at Cal-Arts. He has opened for acts such as Sublime, The Skeletons and Souls of Mischief. He was also Roadie Bob Slayer of the infamous Four Letter Words, one of his brother’s (Kevin Carle) earlier bands. Whether his artwork is performing, painting or illustrating it is very detailed and reflects the sentiments of punk, graffiti and urban life. Currently, Chris lives in Orange County his son while freelancing as Ghastly Kustoms and has done work for Vans, H+R and numerous local bands.
